Coaching and parent support

As parents we all hit roadblocks in parenting it is part of being human!

We coach biological parents, foster carers, kinship carers, permanent carers, and adopting parents and look at specific behaviours which may be impacting the functioning of families.

We coach biological parents, foster carers, kinship carers, permanent carers, and adopting parents and look at specific behaviours which may be impacting the functioning of families.

At Attach we believe all parents have capacity to build skills and knowledge, so we provide a non-judgmental, nurturing, and compassionate environment to assist parents to manage challenging behaviours; to build knowledge in brain development and the impact on the developing child; to build healthy responses to trauma; to grow in knowledge and nurture the child’s emotional, physical, and cognitive needs.

Attach target support to meet immediate and long-term needs of the child within the context of family by delivering standalone parenting courses or specifically tailored coaching programs which are supported by evidence. Some parents have ongoing coaching monthly as a check-in, whilst others prefer a short more intensive approach.

Parenting courses on offer include:

• Circle of Security® Program (COS-P)
• Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK)
• Bringing Up Great Kids First 1000 Days
• Tunning into Kids® (TIK)
• Dads Tuning into Kids™
• Tuning into Teens™ (TIIT), and Parents Building Solutions.

Parents with children on NDIS plans may be able to use their child’s plan to gain greater insight into supporting their children, however, must gain approval from their plan manager prior to booking.

Parents learn to play

The Parents Learn to Play program is for parents or carers of children 8 and below, who are concerned with their child’s ability to play with other children.

The type of play covered is Pretend Play, otherwise referred to as imaginative play. Pretend play is important because when children pretend in play, they use thinking skills, work out problems, use lots of language, pretend they are other people, all of which helps them to understand how other people think and behave. Without these skills children can fall behind developmentally.

Parents build knowledge and practical strategies to support their child in play ability. This approach can be used for children with developmental delay, learning problems, neurodivergence, Down’s syndrome, and neurological conditions. Six skills will be covered throughout the program. The skills that you need to engage your child in play is essential to the program and integrated into the individual sessions.

Parents Learn to Play is run as a 7-week program for parents/carers. The program is run with adults only and practice between sessions at home is expected. Parents Learn to Play class sizes are kept small (6-8) so support is targeted to meet your needs.

Play therapy

Play therapy is a child’s innate way of communicating allowing them to express, explore and process their internal thoughts and feelings.
